13th Beach surf guide

13th Beach is a popular surf spot located along the southern coast of Australia. It stretches for over 6 kilometers and is known for attracting surfers from the nearby city. The beach faces into the Southwest swell, which creates a variety of wave conditions along its length. There are several access points along Barwon Heads - Torquay Rd, making it easy for surfers to check out different peaks.

The surf at 13th Beach is quite varied. It can handle swell sizes starting from around 1 ft (0.3 meters) and is best during a Southwest swell with an incoming tide. The waves break over both sand and rock ledge, offering beach and point break options. When conditions align with a Northeasterly wind, you can find some decent left and right-hand waves, making it a spot suited for intermediate surfers looking to improve their skills.

In addition to the waves, 13th Beach offers a mix of peaks along the beach, with Turd Rock on the far west side and Beacons known for its A-frame setups. The waves can be fun, especially when the tide is low to mid, giving surfers a decent chance to ride some quality waves. Overall, while it's not the best spot in the region, it can deliver some enjoyable sessions when the conditions are right.
