Overview
1st Street is a sandy beach break that peels both left and right, with above-average sandbars helping to shape the peaks. It breaks reliably, so you can usually count on finding a wave when there is swell in the water.
When It Works
The bank draws swell from south through north, with north the best match. A touch of north in the swell is what really wakes it up, and it holds a wide range: it works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, covering everything from small days to properly solid ones.
Wind and Tide
Look for a west offshore wind to keep the faces clean. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, but a rising tide is generally the better call, and a low incoming tide with a bit of north in the swell is the setup that suits this bank best.
Local Tips
This is a forgiving, beginner-friendly beach break, which is part of why it stays popular. Expect a busy lineup when it is on. Keep an eye out for submerged objects from an old shipwreck.

A lifeguard covers the beach and there is a surf shop close by. Parking is straightforward, with a car park offering free parking.
