Batismo surf guide

Batismo is a surf spot located at Praia das Pombas, known for its long, fun waves that roll down the rocky point. It's a decent setup especially when there's a decent South swell working its way up the east coast. Surfers often find the conditions more favorable with lower tides and when the winds are coming from the West.

This spot is best suited for intermediate surfers. The waves typically break to the right over an uneven reef, making for some challenging rides. The optimal swell direction is from the South, and it can handle swells of around 2 to 6 feet (0.6 to 1.8 meters). If the swell is coming from the South or Southwest, you'll likely see some good action. Aim to surf during low to mid tides for the best experience.

On days with lighter winds, you might also catch a few lefts on the other side of the headland reef, which can be a nice change if you’re looking for something different. Just remember to check the conditions before heading out, as it can vary quite a bit!
