Overview
BBC is a right-hand point set on Masirah Island, Oman's largest island and once Alexander the Great's base. The wave peels over an uneven reef close to the BBC telecom towers, where the surrounding hills are mostly barren limestone. Inland, the islanders grow dates, olives, pomegranates and mangos, and are known for weaving and making fishing nets.
When It Works
BBC draws swell from southwest through southeast (SW-SE), with south (S) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and a quality right-hand wall reportedly shows near the towers when a bigger swell is running. Expect it to be somewhat inconsistent, so it rewards patience and the right window.
Wind and Tide
Look for southwest (SW) offshore wind to clean it up. The point can work through low, mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The wave is approachable enough for beginners, and the lineup stays fairly quiet when it's on.
Access
Reach Masirah Island by ferry from Sana. The break sits beside the Jazirah military area, so you'll need their permission to get in close to the telecom towers.
