Beacons surf guide

Beacons is a well-known surf spot located on the coast, popular among locals and visitors alike. It’s often considered a good place for surfers who are looking for a bit of excitement. The wave here can be powerful and challenging, drawing those who are ready to take it on. While it might not be the best spot for everyone, many find it has its moments worth checking out.

The surf at Beacons typically works best with a SouthWest swell and can handle sizes of around 2 to 6 feet (approximately 0.6 to 1.8 meters). When the swell comes from the SE, you can expect peaks that tend to close out right on the coral sections of the reef. The wave breaks right, offering tubes that can be quite intense, especially on a low tide. It's more suited for intermediate surfers, as the shallow reef can be unforgiving and the waves require some skill to navigate properly.

For the best conditions, look for a North wind, which tends to clean up the surface nicely. Tides can vary here, as Beacons works with low, mid, and high tide, providing a bit of flexibility depending on the day. Just keep in mind that confidence and experience will come in handy, as the waves can pack a punch on their best days.
