Benone Strand is a long stretch of beach located to the west of the village, offering a decent spot for surfers looking to catch some waves. The area has a variety of peaks and wedges that change with the tide and swell conditions. It’s a spot where you might find a bit of everything, which keeps the surf experience interesting.

The surf here works best with swells coming from the North, North-Northwest, and Northwest. You can expect wave heights ranging from about 0.3 meters (1 ft) to 1.2 meters (4 ft), making it suitable for both beginners and intermediates. The waves usually break over sand and can peel both left and right. When the wind is coming from the South or South-Southeast, the conditions tend to get better. Tides can play a big role, so you’ll find rideable waves at low, mid, and high tide, though the shifty nature of the location means you'll have to search a bit to find the best peaks. It's a spot where boards like fish, funboards, and longboards can all work well.

Accessing Benone Strand is pretty straightforward; you can park in the lot and walk to where you want to surf. Since the waves can be inconsistent, crowds are rarely a factor here, resulting in a mellow vibe among surfers. Keep in mind that with bigger swells, there can be rips, so it's good to be cautious. The winter months are generally regarded as the best time to surf this spot, but you'll find something rideable in autumn and spring too.
