The spot in front of the seawall can have its days when swell, tide, and wind conspire to create outside peaks at low and shorebreak peaks at high. Usually better at high when the backwash of the seawall can make it jack up more than usual. The locals have it wired, but many take-off areas spread the occasional crowd.

General: Much less crowded and therefore a mellow alternative to the New Smyrna Inlet frenzy, Bethune is a SE swell spot that breaks from the outside all the way through and can wedge up and bowl on the inside. The wave is only good when the swell is over three-feet, and it can handle a much larger swell than New Smyrna can by the Inlet. Tides: Low tide generally but can be fun at times around mid-high tide Size: Thigh-2x overhead Wind: W Swell: Any swell direction works Bottom: Sand Paddling: Easy on the average day but paddling can be a challenging on bigger swells. Spot Rating: Another in a list of average spots. It gets good here when the stars align, but most people surf here due to ease of access.

Beginners and up, plenty of space for newer surfers to spread out.

Easy to park, but easy to miss.

Outside of occasional red tide outbreaks, water is usually clean.
