Bragar surf guide

Bragar is a surf spot located on the western flank of a bay, facing almost northeast. This positioning makes it quite good at managing the stronger southwest and west gales that can whip through the area. The pointbreak here is known for being fast over the outside ledge, and when the conditions are right, it can peel into the bay for several hundred meters, making it a decent place to ride some waves.

This spot handles swells best from the northwest, but it can also work with swells coming from the southwest and northeast. You can catch waves here when the swell sizes hit around 4 feet (about 1.2 meters). The breaks are over boulders, so you’ll want to be careful when you’re paddling out and coming back in. You can expect mostly left waves, and it's suitable for intermediate surfers. For the best experience, aim for low to high tide and check the wind direction; a southwest wind tends to be preferable.

Getting to Bragar can be a bit tricky since it's hard to find. You’ll need to drive to the cemetery on the east side of the bay, then follow a grassy track behind the beach to park at the west end. After that, it’s just a short walk out to the point. Keep in mind, the entry and exit points can be a bit tricky due to rocks, so approach with caution.
