Brewers Bay surf guide

Brewers Bay is a tranquil, protected beach located on a picturesque spot. It's a great place to catch some waves, but it's important to know that it can be a bit unpredictable. When there's a strong North swell, the bay comes alive, offering a punchy point break on the headland reef. However, for much of the time, the waves are smaller and not as exciting, making it a spot best suited for those willing to wait for the right conditions.

The surf at Brewers Bay works best with a NorthWest swell, handling sizes up to about 1.5 meters (5ft). You can expect mainly lefts breaking over live coral, with the occasional right out in the bay that more experienced surfers tend to enjoy. The best wind direction is SouthEast, and the waves typically perform well at low, mid, and high tide. This spot is more suitable for intermediate surfers due to the shallow nature of the break, which can lead to unpredictable shut downs over coral heads.

It's worth noting that the only campsite on the island was lost to Hurricane Irma and isn't likely to return anytime soon. So if you're planning to stay, you'll need to organize accommodations elsewhere. Keep in mind that you might spend quite a bit of time here without seeing many waves during the quieter times; the surf can be a bit fickle, and itโ€™s not uncommon to find little dribblers when the swell isnโ€™t pumping.
