Broulee surf guide

Broulee is a well-known surf spot located in the Batemans Bay area. It offers a mix of surf conditions suitable for different skill levels, making it a popular choice among locals and visitors alike. The main beach breaks can get pretty crowded, especially during peak times, so be prepared to share the waves if you’re staying close to the main areas.

At South Broulee, you’ll find consistent waves with clean peaks in the north corner that handle a swell size of around 1ft to 2.5m. The optimal swell direction here is from the east, with the beach able to accommodate swells coming from the northeast and south. You can catch both left and right waves, and the beach breaks over sand. For the best experience, head out when the wind is coming from the west, and don’t forget that it works well on low, mid, and high tides. This spot is suitable for beginners, but more advanced surfers can head to Pink Rocks and Left Reef off Broulee Island for heavier waves.

If you’re looking for a bit of variety, nearby Mackenzie and Surf Beach offer standard beach peaks if you’re up for a short drive. It’s easy to find something that suits your style here, just keep in mind that the spots can get busy, so walking down the beach might give you some more room to enjoy your session.
