The optimal swell direction here is Northwest, which works well with swell sizes of about 2 feet (0.6 meters). You can also catch swells coming from the Southwest and North. The waves break over sand and can provide both left and right-hand waves. Mid to high tide is typically the best time to hit the water, and it’s recommended for intermediate surfers looking to enjoy some lengthy rides.

Buhne 16 Kampen also hosts the Sylter Longboard Festival in September, making it a popular spot for longboarders from Germany and beyond. The festival attracts top riders and can be a great time to watch or get involved in the longboard community.
