Surf: Bulak Benda is located on Java’s south coast, around 40 minute’s drive from Batu Karas. Exposed to every swell window, this is one of those ‘out there’ open ocean surfing breaks that gets better as it gets bigger – an experience left only to the experts. Swell direction is important to get this place on, but on its day it can be a quality, fast and hollow right with serious barrels reeling across the shallow reef ledge. The waves along this coastline are exposed to the wind as well, so they should be surfed early in the morning or during the wet season when glassy conditions are common.
