Cabo Blanquillo surf guide

Cabo Blanquillo is a surf spot located to the south of Cabo Blanco, usually a bit less crowded since it's a fair drive out. This spot offers a left reef break that can provide fun waves, especially when there's enough sand. It’s worth checking out if Cabo Blanco gets too busy, but remember that it can be windy, so the best times to catch waves are early in the morning or later in the day.

The optimal swell direction here is Northwest, but it can also handle swells coming from the Southwest and North. The spot works well with swell sizes starting from around 2 ft (0.6 m) and breaks over uneven reef and sand. This left-hand wave is best suited for intermediate surfers, and it performs well at various tide heights—low, mid, or high. If the wind is coming from the Southeast, it’s usually the best time to paddle out.

Since Cabo Blanquillo is not as popular as some other spots, you’ll generally find fewer surfers in the water. This can make for a more relaxed session, but be sure to check the conditions before you go, as they can change. If you’re looking for a different option when Cabo Blanco gets too crowded, this spot is definitely worth a visit.
