Cabo Corrientes pointbreak was once the best wave in Argentina, but a jetty was built in the middle of the wave to protect the beginner-friendly sands of Playa Varese. The beach faces NE so S winds are no problem, but getting an E swell big enough to start breaking off the point in front of the jetty is. Further round the filthy bay, multiple jetties and T-head groynes do little to create good waves. Try La Popular if desperate.

General: For a long time, some considered this as one of the best and longest right pointbreaks in this region, if not all Latin America. But the construction of a pier right in the path of the wave, to protect the small harbor, enormously affected the wave's quality.</br></br>Still, when hit with the right conditions, this wave has great potential. It now breaks on the outside of the pier and through the entry to the harbor. It is very easy to access the wave directly at the point. When 6-foot southeast swells reach Mar del Plata, this wave offers long sections ideal to practice your cutbacks. Easy to surf, even beginners have fun out here. Tides: Low Size: Double overhead Wind: NE Swell: SE Bottom: Sand Paddling: Not bad on average days, a workout when it's pumping. Spot Rating: Takes the right conditions, but a nice wave when it's working.

Cabo Corrientes rarely happens and crowds with attitude might descend. The beachies are nicely sheltered and always smaller than other beaches.
