Cahuita surf guide
Surf: General: The Caribbean side of Costa Rica has its own beauty and charm, and a number of high-quality waves on offer during the winter. Cahuita National Park is home to quality stretch of black sand beach break with a fun left-hand reef/point at one end. A great option if you are in country during the Pacific's "offseason," and a beautiful place to combine sightseeing and surfing.
Tides: High tide at beach break, mid to low for left point.

Bottom: Sand at the beach break, reef/sand at the point.
Paddling: Be wary of the rip, tends to run a bit.
Spot Rating: Nice variety of quality beach break peaks and a left-hand reef/point.
Access: Park at the entrance to Cahuita National Park or on the side of the main beach road, then walk down to the black sand beach.
Crowds: Crowd Factor: The left point gets a bit busy with locals, but the beach break stays pretty empty.
Local Vibe: Like most places in Costa Rica, the locals are pretty friendly. That being said, the left point can get busy and competitive.
Environment: Some sewage issues.
Hazards: Rips, reef.
Season: Caribbean spots tend to break best in winter.
