Surf: Spectacular wedging right reef, with long curving walls and oily shoulders just outside the sprawling rivermouth boulders and weekend markets of St Louis du Nord. Paddle 200 metres offshore for an easy, all tide ride, followed by a lively and shallow end section over a flat coral reef. Works in both short fetch NE trade winds and longer period NE swells. Directions: Park safely on the wide coast road between St Louis du Nord and Anse a Foleur. Environment: The local farmers and fishermen are extremely welcoming. From outback the surrounds are carpeted in mahogany, pine and mango trees. There are herds of cows grazing beside banana fields, and a flat patch by the beach with strips of millet growing.
