Overview
Cape Kersaint is a heavy, deep-water left-hand pointbreak that peels below cliffs over an uneven reef, and it is not for the faint-hearted. Rumbling walls hurl themselves at the rock shelf, and when a big south swell lands, barrels start to materialise for anyone willing to take on the unpredictable lineup. The surroundings are wild and mostly left to the seals that live around here.
When It Works
The point draws swell from south to southwest (S-SW), and a solid south swell is the one to wait for if you want those barrels to open up. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. Consistency is on the lower side, so plan to time your sessions rather than count on it firing.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north (N) offshore wind to groom the walls. It can break across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an expert-only wave, given the deep water, the rock shelf, and the shifting, heavy takeoffs. The lineup stays fairly quiet when it works, so you are unlikely to be fighting a crowd for waves.
