Castle Cove surf guide

Castle Cove is a surf spot that sits below some cliffs, with a mix of right and left waves, plus some scattered peaks depending on the swell and sand buildup. It often looks smaller from above than it actually is when you get in the water. The break has a variety of features, including abrupt drops and racy walls, which can close out. You need to watch for swirling currents and rips in the bay, especially during lower tides.

The best swell direction here is from the SouthWest, with workable swells coming from the South and West. It can handle swell sizes starting at around 2 feet (about 0.6 meters). The waves break over uneven reefs and some sand, with both right and left waves being present. The preferred wind direction is from the NorthEast, and the ideal tide to hit is either low or mid. This spot is more suited for intermediate surfers.

When planning your session, keep in mind that the waves can be a lot bigger than they seem from the cliffs. Make sure to check the conditions before heading out, as it can vary quite a bit. Overall, it can be a fun spot if conditions line up right.
