Cat Bay is the mellow beachie where all beginners should go, especially on decent swells and southerly winds. There a bunch of other reefbreaks around here like Right Point, a challenging and sucky right with fast sections over shallow knobby reef. Left Point at the other end of Cat Bay is generally more slopey and wally, like the lefts around the next bay at Cowrie Beach. Tides can have an adverse affect here so aim for incoming.
Cat Bay is such a good learners spot it gets pretty crowded and the surrounding reefs are rarely empty unless one of those record-breakingly large great whites is cruising this stretch looking to snack.
