Cave Rock is a well-known surf spot that attracts experienced surfers looking for challenging waves. Located at the perfect position to catch swells from the south, it's famous for its powerful barrels. The spot is noted for its historical connection to the surfing community, particularly through legends like Shaun Thomson. Surfers often flock here, especially when conditions are right, making it a vibrant but demanding place to catch a wave.

When the swell hits around 5 feet (1.5 meters) and comes from the south, Cave Rock truly shines. The waves break over an uneven reef, producing right-handers that can deliver some solid barrels. It works best with swell from the southeast or southwest, and the ideal wind comes from the northwest. Surfers should aim to catch waves at low, mid, or high tide, but be prepared; the paddle out can be tricky, so timing your lulls is key. This spot is definitely for experts only, as the waves can be heavy and challenging.

The reef is unforgiving, and you’ll want to pay attention while surfing, as it can be tough on both boards and bodies if you push too hard. While it isn't the sketchiest spot in terms of sharks, it's always a good idea to stay aware of your surroundings.
