More about Chacahua surfspot

Chacahua throws up some access difficulties, as it is cut-off by a large system of estuarine lagoons, swamps and a national park. A local ferry crosses to the eastern side, where a fast, tubing right sometimes peels down a sandbar built up beside the rivermouth jetty. Works in both S and huge W-NW, but usually doesn’t hold swells above 8ft and there’s plenty of surrounding beach peaks.

Not so consistent. Strong rips from the lagoon and aggressive locals. A reputation for big insects, theft and robbery has developed, but hotels haven’t, within this island-like community that offer basic accommodation with few amenities.
