Cheray Beach is located in Southern Kerala, just a bit inland from Cochin. It features about 10 km of relatively clean, golden sand. This spot offers a nice environment for solo surfers looking for some waves without too much crowd. Dolphins are often seen in the area, adding a little charm to your surf session.
The surf at Cheray Beach is pretty beginner-friendly. The optimal swell direction comes from the southwest, and you can catch waves coming from the south and west. It works well with swell sizes starting from 1 ft (about 0.3 meters) and breaks over sand. You’ll find both left and right waves here, depending on the conditions. For the best experience, check out the waves when the wind blows from the northeast and during low, mid, or high tides.
While surfing here, you're likely to find plenty of space to enjoy the water by yourself. So if you’re just starting out or looking to practice, Cheray Beach can be a good spot to spend some time in the water.
