More about Cloud 9 surfspot

Cloud Nine is a perfect, top to bottom, barrelling peak that’s short but sweet when the conditions align. The more E in the swell the better as this will keep the door open to the safety of the channel, while N-NE tends to slam it. Higher tides also improve makeability as the coral lurks challengingly close to the open air. W wind holds up the coveted rights nicely and although the lefts are shorter, they are just as hollow off the peak, before quickly shutting down. Sucks in the swell and can handle pretty large faces before maxing out. Confident, nimble, experienced surfers will love it, while intermediates may struggle.

The walk along the snaking, recently rebuilt pier gets you within 200m of the peak and avoids a lot of coral reef. The annual pro contest is a big event for Siargao, when it is a good time to visit for the party and pageantry, but not for getting shacked at Crowd 9! The tight take-off zone can be a hassle with locals and expats fighting for the bombs, but patience will be rewarded by the generally friendly local crew. If it is too packed, try the nearby options of Jacking Horse or Quicksilver.
