Club Med - Malaysia surf guide

If you’re looking for a chill surf spot, Club Med in Malaysia might just be the place for you. It's located near Cherating, and you'll spot it easily from the main left line-up. This area can offer some nice long, mellow wrapping lefts, especially when the sand has built up properly. It’s a laid-back vibe overall, making it a decent choice for a surf session.

The surf conditions here are pretty beginner-friendly. The best swell direction is Northeast, but don’t worry if it comes from the North or East. The waves tend to break over sand, so it’s a good idea for those just starting out. You can expect sizes around 1 foot (about 0.3 meters) to be manageable, and the waves are generally point breaks moving to the left. If you’re planning your trip, aim for low, mid, or high tide, but keep an eye on the wind; Northwest wind is preferable for better conditions.

The resort closes during the NE monsoon, so getting there can be a bit of a trek. However, that means fewer crowds, which can be a nice perk if you prefer a more private surf experience. Just be ready for a little walk and paddle to reach the spot, but it's often worth it for the peace and quiet you’ll find out there.
