Coco Pipe is located along the Encuentro stretch and is a spot primarily known for its challenging surf conditions. This spot is often less crowded as it attracts experienced surfers who are looking for a serious session. It's not the easiest break and is recommended only for those who feel comfortable with heavier waves and complex transitions.
The waves here generally favor an optimal north swell direction, with good surf coming from both north and northeast swells. The conditions can handle swell sizes around 4 feet (about 1.2 meters), breaking over uneven reef. Surfers can expect both left and right waves, with the barrel sections throwing a lot of action. For the best experience, aim to surf during low to mid tide and check for southwest winds, as they usually create more favorable conditions. This spot does demand expert abilities due to the heavy drop and fast-paced nature of the waves.
It's worth noting that Coco Pipe is also the only break in Encuentro where stand-up paddling (SUP) is allowed. If you're ready to tackle more forgiving conditions, this spot can often offer a less consistent experience compared to others in the area.
