Crantock surf guide
Surf: Fast, hollow, right sandbar off rocks to the north. Rivermouth sandbar popular with longboarders and a rare left in south corner on massive swells, quality depends on how the river has affected the sandbars.
Environment: Park at the Bowgie Inn for south side, Pentire Head for north side or behind dunes for main beach. Water quality deteriorates with rain.
Surf: General: This northwesterly facing rivermouth and beachbreak is a good spot to escape the Newquay crowds. The rivermouth at the northern end can have long lefts and rights depending on the sandbars, occasionally fast and hollow for the tubehounds or long and mellow for the loggers. The southern Bowgie end has a peak that comes alive in bigger swells with long lefts and short rights, but this is a favoured haunt of the heavy local crew so respectful, expert surfers only here.
