More about Crescent Head surfspot

Crescent Head has been a destination wave since its discovery in the '50s and longboarders especially like the spoking walls and shoulders that allow a full repertoire of manoeuvres. Short boarders won't be disappointed as the take-off can be hollow and the length of ride allows you to dial in a particular move using the paper-thin lips, between the copious amounts of cutbacks required to stay the 3-400m distance. Drops out in the rivermouth, across which can be some nice peaks. Head to the backbeach in NE'ers.

Crazy crowded during holiday season and weekends with mal riders not embracing the '60s share ethos. Rivermouth means there's sharks around as well as the dolphins. Beginners should avoid as the rocks can pop up unexpectedly when it's small.
