More about Crystals surfspot

Over Absecon Inlet, Crystals shallow beachbreak peak forms up close to the jetty in NE swells. Popular with bodyboarders looking for the steep, short lefts and occasional rights that break back towards the jetty. Crystals won’t handle as much size as the breaks just south of here.

General: At Crystals, big, nor'easter-spawned lefts break off a rock jetty at the north end of Atlantic City next to Absecon Inlet. It's the cleanest spot in Atlantic City with a NE wind, as the angle of the beach and the jetty afford protection. This is a single peak that can't hold crowds, but everyone usually gets a turn, mostly experienced surfers and bodyboarders. Tides: Low-mid generally best Size: Chest high-well overhead Wind: NW to NNW Swell: ENE, E, ESE, SE Bottom: Sand Paddling: Usually pretty mellow, can be tough on bigs days. Spot Rating: Fun on the better days.

Intermediate to very experienced -- not for beginners or families.

Limited parking.

September through March

Crowd Factor: Moderate. Local Vibe: Mellow to moderate.

Free parking here may end up more costly, as this is a depressed downbeat neighborhood and rip-offs are common. Less crowded and usually no tags needed.
