General: Cumberland Island is a beautiful national seashore comprising the final miles of Georgia's coast. There is also good beachbreak -- comparable to Fernandina Beach -- and it takes swells from all directions, but you have to get a ferry or take your own boat here. Tides: mid to high Size: knee-head high Wind: W, NW Swell: NE, E, SE Bottom: sand Paddling: Hard NE and SW winds can produce strong currents, but generally pretty mellow. Spot Rating: Can offer a fun little wave on its day. Worth considering if Fernandina looks fun or it is a crowded weekend.
