D2 surf guide

D2 is a surf spot that features numerous rocky islets offshore, and it’s known for its submerged slab reef. This is a popular spot for those who are into bodyboarding, as it can produce some solid, hollow waves. The waves here can get pretty intense, thanks to the way the reef reshapes the swell into a thick, squarish right-hander. Just a heads up, there's also a similarly strong left at Coral do Céu, not too far away.

The optimal swell direction for D2 is Southeast, but it can also pick up swells from the East and South. This spot handles swell sizes around 3ft (about 0.9 meters) pretty well. Waves break over a rock ledge, so be prepared for a sharp reef. The main wave is a right-hand wave, which can be fun for experienced surfers. If you're planning to hit D2, the best winds come from the West, and mid to high tides are ideal. Just remember, this is a spot for expert surfers only.

It's about a 1.35km paddle out to the break, so hiring a boat could save you a lot of energy. The ocean floor is covered in sharp shells, adding an extra challenge. Make sure you're ready for some heavy wave action here!
