Dar Bouazza surf guide

Dar Bouazza is a surf spot located about 40 minutes south of Anfa, in Casablanca. This area is known for its bustling vibe and can be a bit hectic due to the proximity to the large city. It’s one of Morocco’s few left-hand waves and is quite accessible, making it an appealing choice for surfers looking to catch some quality waves without straying too far from urban amenities.

The surf here can handle swells from 3 to 12 feet (1 to 3.6 meters), and it typically works best during the autumn and winter months. The wave breaks over an uneven reef and tends to be on the fatter side, but can also offer some solid rippable sections, especially with proper swell and wind conditions. The ideal wind comes from the south, and low tide is preferable for steeper waves. It’s suitable for intermediate surfers, and you can ride a variety of board types, including shortboards, funboards, longboards, and fish. Just keep in mind that during weekends, the crowds can get a little thick, but they usually disperse when the swell gets bigger.

Be aware that the environment has its risks. The bottom is made up of sharp rocks, so if you head out, bringing hard-sole booties is a good idea. Plus, watch out for the Chapeau Chinois A-frame; it’s super shallow and looks tempting, but can be hazardous. In terms of access, it’s pretty easy to get to with a marked turn-off, and parking is available nearby. Just time your jump off the rocks at the top of the point wisely!
