More about Derecha del Cartel surfspot

Excellent lined-up right with peeling bowl sections offering good tube time. Longer rides than Spanish Left and handles a bit more size. Best around mid tide on a NW swell.

General: Breaking in front of the Metropolis building and wrapping into the bay at El Conquistador is a quality rocky right hand reef, with long, peeling, shreddable walls that form over an unforgiving lava bottom. The waves here are super fun and consistent, hence always pretty busy on the tight take-off point. A regular contest venue. Works on big swells when waves can be double overhead. Tides: Works on all tides. Size: Waist high to double overhead. Wind: SE, E Swell: NW, SW Bottom: Rocky reef Paddling: Simple paddle round through channel. Spot Rating: Long, super shreddable, high quality right hand walls with a challenging take-off and busy peak.

Great for intermediates plus.

Just south of Spanish left

Parking by the break, tricky walkout over sharp rocks.

Best October - March

Crowd Factor: Busy when good. Local Vibe: Competitive with high standard of surfing, follow etiquette, wait for your turn.

Very shallow with rocks just below the surface in places. There are a few more peaks to the north including Bunkers. Less localism than the Left but still some bad vibes.

Generally OK; there are reports of sewage discharges here through aging infrastructure.

Rocky, crowds, heavy take-off.
