General: Another of South Carolina's islands without a bridge, Dewees can be reached by boat or ferry. The place is not really worth checking if you can access the Isle of Palms. If you're staying on Dewees, it's just one long stretch of beachbreak with considerable shoaling offshore, generally less consistent than Isle of Palms. Tides: Low to mid at the ends of the islands, mid to high at the central beachbreaks. Size: Waist-overhead high Wind: W, NW Swell: S, SE, E Bottom: Sand. Paddling: Hard NE and SW winds can produce strong currents, but generally pretty mellow. Spot Rating: Scattered peaks, ideal for all types surfers most days.
