Diggers Beach is a surf spot known for being nicely protected from the wind by the high headlands around it. It manages to catch a good amount of swell, making it workable even when conditions are a bit bigger. The beach is popular with longboarders, especially when the waves are on the smaller side.
The best swell direction here is from the NorthEast, but it can also handle some South swell. Diggers can deal with swell sizes starting at 1 ft (about 0.3 meters) and it typically breaks over sand. You can expect mostly beach breaks with waves going both left and right. It’s generally more steep than hollow but can get a bit heavier as the swell size increases beyond overhead. For the best conditions, you’ll want to hit it with a west wind. This spot is suitable for all levels, including beginners, making it a good place to practice or just enjoy some fun waves.
Be aware that Diggers can get pretty crowded, so expect to share the waves with other surfers. If it’s packed, you might want to check out Hills Beach just to the north for a change of scenery.
