Overview
Domes is the first right-hand point you reach as you swing around the corner at Rincon. It bends long rights over an uneven reef, throwing a sectiony wall with the occasional tube and a shorter left off to the side. Inside and outside takeoff zones give you a couple of options depending on the swell, and it's a great place to work on open-face carves. The one catch is size: sitting in a small bay, it flushes into a "toilet bowl" effect and doesn't handle really big surf well.
When It Works
As the furthest spot out, Domes pulls in more swell than the breaks to the south. It draws from northwest through northeast, with northeast (NE) the direction that suits it best. The wave is usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.1 m / 7 ft, stays consistent, and comes into its own through autumn and winter.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean up the wall. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Domes suits shortboards and bodyboards, and it's approachable enough for beginners. Expect a busy lineup when it's working, though the vibe in the water tends to be friendly.
Access
Finding it is easy: look for the dome and park right there. There's a surf school and surf shop nearby, plus free roadside parking.
