General: Given the right conditions, surfable waves exist on most beaches both north and south of Dublin city on occasion, including one created by the ferry, however, the further south from Dublin city, the more exposed the coast gets to the Atlantic long period swell window. Tides: Usually high tide as more swell gets in. Size: Knee to chest high. Wind: W is offshore but tends to blow any swell flat. Best waves with S winds after SE gale or massive and extremely south angled big period Atlantic swell. Swell: S, SE Bottom: Varied from sand to rock to reef. Paddling: Most spots are close to the beach. Spot Rating: Wave quality is generally poor till you get further south.

Suitable for beginners, however inconsistent, short lived swells and big tides make for short surfing windows.
