Easkey Left is even more popular since it works on all tides and any swell. Handles plenty of size, which ramps up the currents and SW winds are no problem. Nice drop to cover-up or coping and bends back over the shelf with a shreddable shoulder.

General: Easkey Left is one of the waves in Ireland that has been surfed the longest. A good wave at various sizes, Easkey Left does a good job at holding form in prevailing SW winds when others are blown out. Tides: Low Size: Head high to double overhead plus. Wind: S-SW Swell: NW-N Bottom: Rock reef. Paddling: Fairly easy on the shoulders till you get caught inside. Spot Rating: A good quality wave that is very consistent.

Crowd Factor: One of the most consistently surfed waves in Ireland. Local population of surfers is fairly high, plus there is usually an assortment of camping surfers in the Castle Lot. Local Vibe: Exchanges between surfers are sometimes unpleasant here. Avoid arriving in large groups or with cameras, and be respectful.

Camping, toilets and changing facilities by the tower. Surf centre in the village has internet access, café and info. Famously bad water quality has been improved by new sewage treatment plant. Crowded with locals so dont turn up en masse!

The river that runs past the castle can bring some agricultural runoff, especially after heavy rains.

Relatively safe for an Irish reefbreak, watch for shallow hazards on the inside and rips especially on rising swells. It's always a little bigger than it looks.
