Egypt Beach surf guide

Egypt Beach is located near the town of Scituate, about 15 minutes south of Nantasket Beach. This spot is often affected by swell-shadowing due to Boston Harbor, which can impact the wave sizes. The beach has a flat, sand-bottom layout with scattered rocks along the shore, giving it a somewhat unique vibe. It's not the most reliable surf spot, but it can be enjoyable under the right conditions.

The waves here are mostly soft and long, making it a better choice for longboarders. They work best on a swell coming from the North to NorthEast directions and can handle sizes from about 3 feet (1 meter) to 6 feet (1.8 meters). The beach breaks both right and left, which is nice for different riding styles. The incoming tide is preferable as it can help form better waves. Wind from the WestNorthWest to NorthEast usually works well, but you'll need to keep an eye on the conditions to make the most out of your session. The surf can be pretty mellow in summer, but winter brings colder water temperatures, so be prepared with proper gear.

Access to Egypt Beach is easy, and the crowd factor is generally sparse, creating a mellow local vibe. The best time to hit this spot is from September through March. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, there's something for everyone, but be aware of the varying conditions across seasons. Just remember, it might not be the most consistent spot, but it can definitely be fun when the swell is right!
