El Camaron surf guide
Surf: General: Hardly the best wave in Mainland Mexico, El Camaron typically has small, weak lefthanders. This isn't to say El Camaron doesn't get good. Because it is a rocky headland that conveniently juts southwest into the Pacific - with no island shadow from the same direction - it does have its moments in the spring and summer months, when Southern Hemis are at their strongest. The wave itself peels left along the rock shelf at the feet of a sea cliff. As mentioned, it is generally small -- around waist to chest-high -- soft, and slow. But it is enough of a pointbreak to line up and build momentum as it goes -- on the right board it can be plenty of fun. When a proper S-W swell pours in, El Camaron stands up and is highly rippable.
