Elba Island - Margidore is a left-hand reef break tucked into the extreme eastern end of Margidore Bay, peeling over a rock ledge. The water is clean and the surrounding setting stays quiet.
When It Works
The reef pulls in swell from southwest through southeast (SW-SE), and it responds well to both southeast and southwest swell, but south swell is the best match. It's a left that works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for north offshore wind. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. This left is resilient, too: it stays surfable even under a strong onshore southeast wind.
Local Tips
This is an expert-level wave, best left to surfers confident over a shallow rock ledge. The lineup stays quiet, so you can usually count on an uncrowded session when it's breaking.
