Ereaga surf guide

Ereaga is a beach break located inside the Bilbao rivermouth, close to the town of Algorta. It offers a mix of wave types and can be a decent spot for intermediate surfers. The area is urban and situated in a well-kept affluent neighborhood, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors.

The surf at Ereaga generally works best with northwest swells, but it can handle swells coming from the west and north as well. The wave heights typically range from 1ft (0.3m) and can break over both rock ledges and sandy bottoms. You can catch both left and right waves here, which adds variety to your sessions. For the best results, a southeast wind is preferable, and the tide can be anything from low to high, allowing for some flexibility in when to hit the water. However, keep in mind that the surf is moderately consistent, so conditions can vary quite a bit. It's a good spot if you have some experience under your belt.

Since Ereaga is a beach break, be cautious of submerged rocks during low tide. The environment is urban, which can affect your experience, but beach facilities are decent. In the summer, parking can be a hassle due to restrictions, so plan accordingly if you’re driving there.
