Faja do Araujo surf guide
Surf: The only wave on the east coast and pretty much reserved for experts only. Needs a huge NW swell of at least 15' to start breaking at half that size as it refracts thru 90ΒΊ. Once it clears the big rocks that litter the line-up, serious big water drops lead into cavernous barrels over tricky slabs of rock. When it is on, it's a world-class freight train for hundreds of metres and the best wave on the island. Low to mid tide only.
Directions: Can be checked from the miradours to the south. Logging road to a few houses then half hour walk up the rocky shoreline. Difficult entry and exit to the water from the rocks 15 minutes paddle south of the point.
Environment: Extremely isolated and a mission to get to. Can be checked from the miradours to the south. Logging road to a few houses then half hour walk up the rocky shoreline. Difficult entry and exit to the water from the rocks 15 minutes paddle south of the point. Very low consistency.
