Ferrugem surf guide
Surf: General: Besides Silveira, the other draw of this region is the super-consistent beachbreak at Ferrugem, which picks up tons of swell and can be quite powerful. The south end of the beach is generally better and tends to close out when it gets overhead. The best peak is usually at the northeast end of the beach, where long lefts can form and/or short rights, depending on the swell direction. On its best days it can be epic. In summer or when the swell is small this can be the only beach breaking. All in all, a great place to check due to its consistency. The brownish/yellowish river runoff gives the place its name: Praia da Ferrugem ("Rust Beach").
