Fongbin surf guide
Fongbin is a surf spot located on the coast road, offering a blend of rocky reefs and a rivermouth beach setting. This area can pick up some decent swell and tends to have a good form, especially in the right conditions. The beach here features shifting black sandbars, which can create fun peaks for surfers looking to catch waves.
For surfing at Fongbin, the optimal swell direction is NorthEast, but it can also work with swells coming from the North and SouthEast. The waves can handle sizes starting from about 2ft (0.6m) and break over uneven reef and sandy spots. Surfers can expect both left and right waves, making it a versatile location. The ideal wind direction is from the West, and this spot can cater to surfers at low, mid, and high tides, though you'll have the best luck with an intermediate skill level here.
When the conditions align, Fongbin can provide a solid surfing experience, but it's important to check the surf reports and local conditions before heading out. Also, if you're into exploring, there are more reefs accessible along Hwy 11, especially during bigger swells, which can offer more variety for your surf sessions.
