Surf: Black sand beachbreak at Fossil Beach is the most consistent swell puller on the island, but is often too big and blown out. Can be a bit sucky on the peak but usually backs off quickly and cruises for the longboard crew who frequent here. Boulder reefs at either end get good in moderate swells. To the north is 3 Mile open beachbreak below cliffs before Pasagshak's indented bay and campground. Environment: 50min drive from Kodiak City. Watch out for the grazing bison.
