Francis Beach/Half Moon Bay State Beach surf guide
Surf: Average beachbreak in front of the campground. A fairly consistent area, best during high tide with E wind and small, clean, peaky swells. Often maxed-out or blown-out, but when it comes together, Francis Beach and spots to the north go off.
Environment: Pay parking keeps the crowds down. Telephones and restrooms available. As with the rest of the central coast, assume that sharks and rip currents are always present. Currently, coastal overdevelopment is threatening all the surf spots in Half Moon Bay.
