Gallé is southeast from Hikkaduwa, and is the most interesting colonial town in the area. A left breaks near the jetty just outside of town, but it doesn’t work very often. In the town itself the shallow reefs in front of the old city walls always seem on the verge of working, but never quite do it.
Better to head either west or east for waves, but worth a visit for the sightseeing.
