More about Gibara Coast surfspot

General: To the east of Puerto Padre and to the north of the town of Holguin lies this surf zone on the northeast coast of Cuba. Very few people, if any at all, have surfed here so put a feather in your cap if you make it this far. What you will likely find are small rights breaking along a rocky shore. Tides: Any depending on size Size: Chest high to a bit overhead Wind: S Swell: N Bottom: Reef Paddling: Easy. Spot Rating: The pretty port of Gibara has waves at Playa Caletones on NE swells. Rarely ridden, the pick of the spots is a fast and hollow left breaking on a shallow rock shelf just to the west of Gibara. The wave is short and intense, with a tube section, but it does need a good swell to get going.
