Gigaro surf guide

Gigaro is a beach break located on the stunning Côte d'Azur. It's a spot that attracts surfers due to its scenic backdrop and the occasional fun wave. You’ll find a beach dotted with some rocks that can add a bit of excitement to your session. The wave quality here can be hit or miss, mostly depending on the wind and swell conditions. It's not a go-to spot for consistent surf, and in summer, you might have to share the waves with quite a crowd, especially when conditions are on the flatter side.

The surf at Gigaro can produce a below-average, slopey wave, which is more enjoyable after strong southern winds. When these winds kick up, and the swell is coming from the South-West or South-East, it can get pretty decent for a few hours, particularly if the wind swings offshore from the North-East. The spot can handle swell sizes starting from about 1 ft (0.3 m) and can produce both left and right waves. It’s best suited for intermediate surfers as the break is over sand, making it a bit forgiving compared to rockier spots.

If you're looking for other surfing options nearby, and there's a strong east windswell in the air, consider checking out L'Escalet, Cavalaire-sur-Mer, or back at Le Lavandou. You might find headhigh (around 2 m) and powerful waves there, but be prepared for more people in the water. Overall, Gigaro offers a unique experience, not just for the surfing but for the beautiful views that surround it.
