Goulds Inlet is located off the southern tip of Sea Island and can only be accessed by paddling from the northern tip of St. Simons. This spot is known to be the most consistent wave in the area. It typically breaks well at mid tide on the way in. You can expect some fun but also fickle peaks, and there are occasional long lefts that slide back towards the rivermouth. Be aware of some strong currents near the mouth.
The surf here can handle swell sizes from about 2 feet (0.6 meters) and works best with swells coming from the NorthEast and SouthEast. The waves break over sand, creating both left and right beach breaks. The best conditions usually happen when the wind is coming from the west, and you're likely to find the most rideable waves at mid and higher tides.
In terms of crowd, things can get busy; there's even been a record of up to 60 people surfing here at once. So if you’re looking for some space, it might be worth checking it out on a less crowded day. Just remember to stay below the high tide line to avoid potential issues with the private police force that patrols the area due to its affluent surroundings.
